We have some beautiful worship planned for Holy Week at St John’s.  You are very welcome to join us at any event.

Our stripping of the altar service at 6pm on Maundy Thursday will be followed by our Agape meal in the school hall.  This was so beautiful last year and commended by all.  Let us know if you would like to join us.

Good Friday at 10am will have holy communion and a dramatic reading of the passion narrative from Mark’s gospel.

2-3pm on Good Friday will have a quiet hour at the cross as we remember the day Jesus died.

Holy Saturday at 7.30pm will have our Easter vigil service as we celebrate the Jesus the Light of the world.

We have had such a good time so far since Shrove Tuesday.  We had a great time at our pancake party, our young people served and everyone enjoyed delicious pancakes, there was such a lovely atmosphere in the parish hall.

We have held two weeks of our Lent course ‘From the Ram to the Lamb’  we have looked at Abraham and reflected on his obedience and the similarities and contrasts between the offering of Isaac as a sacrifice and Jesus the lamb of God, and how God always keeps his promises.  Next we thought about Moses and his obedience to God’s call and how he was a forerunner to Jesus who would lead God’s people to freedom from slavery to sin.  Each week is a stand alone study so you don’t need to miss out.  Turn up at church on Monday 20th at noon with your sandwiches.  We would love to see you.

FullSizeRenderWe would love to welcome you to any of the activities we have planned to prepare ourselves for Easter.

We will begin with our Pancake party on Tuesday 28th February from 4-6pm.

From the Ram to the Lamb is a five week course aimed at discovering more about how Jesus fulfils Old Testament prophecy about the Messiah.  You are welcome to come to any or all of our lunchtime meetings as we prepare our hearts and minds for our Easter celebrations.
